The DCD>Awards celebrate excellence in data center projects, people, and teams. This year DCD received more entries than ever before. Entries are judged by an independent team of renowned experts.
The winners were announced on December 8 at the DCD>Awards Gala Dinner and Ceremony at the Park Plaza Hotel and, for the first time in the history of DCD>Awards, the event was live streamed for viewers across the world.
We are honored to announce that Kaiser Permanente was short-listed for the Enterprise Data Center Evolution Award and NVIDIA and Kao Data won Data Center Operations Team of the Year at the 15th DCD>Awards. Future Facilities is proud of the work we do to support these amazing organizations and extend our congratulations! A big thank you to these innovative organizations for using our software solutions to drive your pivotal and necessary projects forward.
Congratulations to Kaiser Permanente for making the short list for the Enterprise Data Center Evolution Award, which recognizes how enterprise portfolios are expanding to include a variety of on-prem, cloud, colocation, and managed services. This award celebrates enterprise organizations that take on a new data center build, extension, modernization, outsourcing, cloud and/or hybrid IT. Kaiser Permanente was short-listed for their unique data center modernization project.
They initiated a project to modernize their legacy data centers to evolve at a rate that would satisfy the constantly changing demands of IT. In doing so, they inspired a culture of transformative solutions and, using Future Facilities’ 6Sigma Digital Twin and its physics-based simulation, engineered a selection process to identify optimal placement of IT based on a predetermined set of criteria. Kaiser Permanente used the 6Sigma Digital Twin to run what-if scenarios to understand failure issues, plan future IT deployments to predict change, and reduce risk in their on-prem facilities where power densities are constantly growing. By enabling the migration of systems and services from colocation back to their data centers, they saved an estimated $300,000 a year. Read the full case study here.
Congratulations to NVIDIA and Kao Data for winning Data Center Operations Team of the Year. This award celebrates teamwork, specifically a team that is “convened to undertake a special task or project that requires organization, coordination and dedication above and beyond day-to-day operations” (DCD). NVIDIA and Kao Data deployed the Cambridge-1 Supercomputer, the UK’s most powerful supercomputer. They did this in record time, bringing together decades of work in accelerated computing, AI, and life sciences. We are proud to provide Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to help Kao Data make informed, data-driven decisions around design, implementation, and operations.
Future Facilities is proud to support innovative teams achieve their data center performance goals. Once again, congratulations NVIDIA, Kao Data, and Kaiser Permanente!
