The high equipment power requirements in most modern data centres means that they have to be designed and managed to provide an effective air recirculation system.  This is often achieved by using a Raised Floor to create a ‘floor void’ as a supply plenum.

When planning a new install, one main concern of the facility manager is "can the Raised Floor support the extra weight load imposed upon it"?  This may include not only the cabinet and equipment, but also the fixtures and fittings that come with it, such as the extra power and data cabling and fan trays etc.

Due to the large number of items within a data centre, the task of tracking this weight loading on the floor becomes quite complex. The 6SigmaDC Weight Module works with 6SigmaRoom and 6SigmaFM to give both data centre designers and managers a quick and continued understanding of the weight loads on the Raised Floor.
