HP Source Data Centre Airflow and Cooling Performance 6SigmaDC Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling software from Future Facilities has been chosen by HP for analysis of data centre airflow and to assess cooling performance. 6SigmaDC is now one of the CFD application tools used by HP Technical Services to support the company’s Datacenter Thermal Assessment offerings. HP’s Datacenter Thermal Assessments are also part of the Dynamic Smart Cooling solution to help customers increase their overall cooling efficiency. Dynamic Smart Cooling is an advanced datacenter solution that uses rack based real-time temperature measurements to continuously adjust data centre CRAC (computer room air conditioning) units, matching the cooling capacity to the needs within the datacenter IT equipment. The solution was launched in October 2007 and has found ready acceptance by businesses looking to increase datacenter cooling efficiency which reduces operating costs, remove cooling constraints and minimize carbon footprint. HP has chosen 6SigmaDC because of its speed in solving datacenter simulations. “The best practice,” states Paul Pererz, VP HP SDI, “is to model your layout, so you can plan for the flexibility needed to handle the increasing IT demands of the corporation for the next 10 to 15 years. In the hands of skilled operators like the HP Technical Services team at HP, 6SigmaDC provides exactly the level of confidence demanded by today’s info centric businesses.”
