Future Facilities at DCD Converged, London, Nov 30 & Dec 1!

.
Future Facilities will be attending one of the UK's largest dedicated data centre events on November 30th and December 1st 2011, at the ICC London ExCeL!

Be sure not to miss us on stand 71 at DatacenterDynamics Converged to find out more about the latest release of 6SigmaDC, watch software demonstrations from Future Facilities engineers, and find out how to get your FREE 30 day trial of 6SigmaRoomLite, the entry level module in the 6SigmaDC suite!

Future Facilities are also sponsoring a presentation from 6SigmaDC users Cundall. John Lane, Partner and Malcolm Howe, Design Partner at Cundall, will be presenting at 11.25am in Hall 3 - details below.

Where Has My Data Centre Capacity Gone? Bridging the Gap Between IT & Services Design

"Data centre designers use a uniformly distributed W/m2 IT load in the data hall to model, optimise and verify their design of the data centre cooling system. Once the data centre is built and ownership passes to IT, it is often populated in such a way that only 60 or 70% of the theoretical capacity is useable. Whilst Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling is being used to diagnose post occupation problems it is often too late to make changes to the way the IT systems have been installed due to the disruption it would cause or the cost of re-cabling.
This study looks at ways of avoiding this problem by using CFD modelling at the IT planning stage. It enables IT managers to use close to 100% of the data centre capacity and enables alternative layouts to be evaluated and optimised before committing to costly physical IT installations and cabling costs. The presentation demonstrates how the extra 20-30% in utilisation may be the difference between building or not building a new data centre."
