Data center operating costs have been skyrocketing in recent years.  A breakdown of costs reveal that energy has become the biggest single expenditure for many data centers.  The unit cost of energy is partially to blame for this trend, but there is another factor involved.  This factor is power density of the IT equipment that is being deployed in modern data centers.  High power density leads to large and disruptive “thermal footprints” that reduce cooling system efficiency and put IT equipment in danger of overheating.  To compensate, air conditioning has increased disproportionally to the increase in power required, leading to runaway energy costs.

Attend this webcast from Future Facilities to learn how progressive companies are using the Virtual Facility to “see” the impact of thermal footprints before they affect the actual data center environment. Also learn how the Virtual Facility is used to cheaply and reliably find deployment options that reduce energy costs and maintain acceptable levels of IT reliability.
